The Tokyo Regional Taxation Bureau held Tokyo Regional Sake Awards 2019 and examined the entries in the six categories of Ginjo, Junmai Ginjo, Kanzake, Junmai Kanzake, Honkaku Shochu, and Beer and Happoshu. The initial judgement took place on September 24 and 25, and the final judgement on September 25 and 27.

Overall, there were entries of 27 items from 27 breweries in the Ginjo category, 29 items from 29 breweries in the Junmai Ginjo category, 24 items from 24 breweries in the Kanzake category, 31 items from 31 breweries in the Junmai Kanzake category, 13 items from 7 breweries in the Honkaku Shochu category, and 51 items from 21 breweries in the Beer and Happoshu category.

Each of the examination was performed by 12 to 14 judges who are proficient in the sensory evaluation of alcoholic beverages. Taste, aroma, and the harmony of flavors were evaluated deliberately and impartially, by using an identification of the characteristic and a scoring method.

As a result, the honor prizes were awarded to 10 breweries in the Ginjo category, 11 breweries in the Junmai Ginjo category, 9 breweries in the Kanzake category, 12 breweries in the Junmai Kanzake category, and 2 breweries in the Honkaku Shochu category. The awards ceremony was held on October 29 at the Tokyo Regional Taxation Bureau.

In addition, the event for providing the opportunity for brewers to ensure the quality of each entry was held on the same day.
