4 Summary of Quality Examinations
The Tokyo Regional Taxation Bureau held Tokyo Regional Sake Awards 2026 and examined the entries in the five categories of Ginjo, Jummai Ginjo, Warmed sake(Kanzake), Jummai Warmed sake(Jummai Kanzake), and Honkaku Shochu. The initial judgments took place on September 10 and 11 and the final judgment was on September 16.
Each of the examinations was performed by judges who are proficient in the sensory evaluation. Taste, aroma, and the harmony of flavors were evaluated deliberately and impartially, by using an identification of the characteristic and a scoring method.
As a result, the honor prizes were awarded to 6 breweries in the Ginjo category, 10 breweries in the Jummai Ginjo category, 8 breweries in the Warmed sake(Kanzake) category, 11 breweries in the Jummai Warmed sake(Jummai Kanzake) category, and 3 distilleries in the Honkaku Shochu category. In addition, the manufacturers that achieved the highest score in each category were awarded Grand Prizes.
