1st Anniversary Commemorative Event for the Registration of “Traditional knowledge and skills of sake-making with koji mold in Japan” as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage in Asakusa, Hosted by the National Tax Agency (NTA)

Japanese sake making techniques are unique to Japan, utilizing Koji mold nurtured by the country's rich climate and natural features. These techniques, a source of Japanese cultural pride, were designated as a Japan’s National Intangible Cultural Property in December 2021 and subsequently inscribed on the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage list in December 2024.
To mark the 1st anniversary of the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage registration, the National Tax Agency (NTA) will host a commemorative event in Asakusa, a place where Japanese tradition and culture thrive, and which draws many visitors from around the world.
*The event will be held at the Asakusa Culture Tourist Information Center and will feature a talk session with master brewers (Toji) and experts, a tasting experience, workshops, and a panel exhibition.
