The National Tax Agency provides lectures in training programs for tax officials from developing countries, which aims to improve tax systems and administration in respective countries and cultivate an understanding of Japan’s tax administration.

International Seminar on Taxation (ISTAX)
We provide lectures for tax officials from developing countries under the framework of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). This seminar covers Japan’s tax system and administration thoroughly and is divided into 2 courses: General Course for mid-level tax officials and Senior Course for management-level officials.

Country-Focused Training Courses in Tax Administration
We provide lectures in training courses for tax officials from certain developing countries under the framework of JICA. The topics are designated in accordance with their specific needs.
International Taxation for Asian Countries
We provide lectures focused on international taxation for tax officials from several countries in Asia, which are China, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam, under the framework of JICA.
NTA Practical Training Course (Practicum)
The National Tax College offers training for developing countries’ tax officials who are studying in Japanese graduate schools (i.e., Yokohama National University, Keio University, National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies, Hitotsubashi University, and Waseda University), funded mainly by scholarships from the World Bank. This program is recognized as credit for their Master’s Degree, and they focus on Japan’s tax system and tax administration.
Other International Cooperation Activity: Dispatch of Lecturers Overseas
We also send our staff abroad to give lectures for tax officials of developing countries.
