To ensure the safety of alcoholic beverages produced in Japan, the NTA tests their concentration level of radioactive substances.

For the examination, the NTA purchases alcohol beverages distributed in the market. The NTA also procures alcohol beverages and even their brewing water directly from manufactures.

Alcohol beverages to be exported are also checked to ensure if they comply with the standards of destination countries.

All the samples examined so far fully comply with the standards of Japan and, as for export, of destination countries.

The NTA conducts these examinations in cooperation with the National Research Institute of Brewing (NRIB), which is capable of advanced analysis and evaluation of alcoholic beverages.

The results are publicly available on the NTA website. (Excel/31KB)(PDF/140KB)
